Swallows

Swallows are nesting on a home or building.

Non-lethal, humane and safe materials to successfully prevent swallows from nesting on structures:

  • Bird Slide -  A commercially available exclusionary material to prevent swallows from  nesting on structures. Bird Slide blocks the right angle swallows  prefer and excludes them from applying mud to the surface of the  structure.
  • Coroplast - a commercially available product that can be applied to vertical  surfaces under the eaves of structures to prevent swallows from nesting.   Apply the coraplast directly to the exterior wall of the structure  under the eave.  The slick plastic surface will prevent the mud from  nest-building to stick to the surface of the structure.  Tap Plastics  sells coroplast.  Clear plexiglass sheets can be used in the same  application as coroplast.

Help protect swallows and other nesting birds by educating your community!  Download our poster and display it in a public area or send it to a homeowner or business  in need of a friendly reminder about the laws protecting our native and  nesting birds.
